RECTIFIER

RECTIFIER IS A DEVICE WHICH IS USED TO CONVERT AC COMPONENT TO DC COMPONENT BY ALLOWING A CURRENT TO FLOW THROUGH IT IN ONE DIRECTION ONLY.

RECTIFIER IS OF TWO TYPES:-

1. HALF WAVE RECTIFIER

2. FULL WAVE RECTIFIER

IT IS A DEVICE WHICH IS USED TO CHANGE AC COMPONENT TO DC COMPONENT BY REMOVING ALPHA/2...


PRINCIPLE:-

IT IS BASED ON MUTUAL INDUCTANCE, FORWARD BIASING, AND REVERSE BIASING.

WORKING:-

CASE:-1 WHEN POSITIVE COMPONENT OF AC IS GIVEN TO P2 OF THE PRIMARY COIL THEN P1 WILL GET NEGATIVE CHARGE DUE TO MUTUAL INDUCTANCE. S1 AND S2 WILL GET POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE CHARGE RESPECTIVELY, AS A RESULT, THE DIODE D WILL FORWARD BIAS THEREFORE IT WILL ALLOW THE POSITIVE COMPONENT TO PASS THROUGH IT AND WILL OBTAIN IT LOAD RESISTANCE.

CASE:2 WHEN NEGATIVE COMPONENT OF AC IS GIVEN TO P2 OF THE PRIMARY COIL THE P1 WILL GET POSITIVE CHARGE DUE TO MUTUAL INDUCTANCE S1 AND S2 WILL GET NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE CHARGE RESPECTIVELY, AS A RESULT, THE DIODE D WILL REVERSE BIAS THEREFORE IT WILL ALLOW THIE POSITIVE COMPONENT TO PASS THROUGH IT WILL OBTAIN IT LOAD RESISTANCE.

THEREFORE WE WILL OBTAIN ONLY SINGLE SIDED POSITIVE COMPONENT THROUGH IT AND WITHOUT ANY CHANGE IN FREQUENCY.

FULL WAVE RECTIFIER

IT IS A DEVICE WHICH IS USED TO CHANGE AC COMPONENT OF DC COMPONENT WITHOUT RECTIFIED ANY COMPONENT.

                                        

WORKING:-

CASE:-1 WHEN POSITIVE COMPONENT IS GIVEN TO P2 OF PRIMARY COIL THE P1 WILL GET NEGATIVE CHARGE. DUE TO MUTUAL INDUCTANCE S1 AND S2 WILL GET POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE CHARGES RESPECTIVELY IN THIS WAY D2 IS REVERSE BIAS AND D1 IS FORWARD BIAS IT WILL ALLOW THIS COMPONENT THROUGH THE LOAD RESISTANCE FROM POINT C2 CENTRAL TAPPED POINT.

CASE:-2 WHEN POSITIVE COMPONENT IS GIVEN TO THE P2 OF PRIMARY COIL THEN P1 GET POSITIVE CHARGE BY THE MUTUAL INDUCTANCE S1 AND S2 WILL GET POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE CHARGE RESPECTIVELY. AS A RESULT, D1 WILL BE RESERVE BIAS AND D2 WILL FORWARD BIAS AND IT WILL ALLOW THIS COMPONENT TO PASS THROUGH IT AND WE OBTAIN THE COMPONENT ACROSS THE LOAD RESISTANCE FROM C POINT OF CENTRAL TAPPED POINT.

 IN FULL WAVE RECTIFIER WE WILL OBTAIN ALL THE COMPONENTS BUT IN THE SAME DIRECTION AND FREQUENCY OF THE SIGNAL WILL BE DOUBLE.
